Incredible Value Italians

Date: Fri, Aug 11, 2023 - Sun, Aug 13, 2023
Time 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Venue: Tasting Room @ 222 D Street in Davis

Are we calling it a Recession? Who even knows. All we know is that we're staying in Italy for a few more weeks because there are terrific values here.

This is a tasting you won't want to miss! We bought a little extra of these wines and we're putting them together in a happy 4 bottle pack so you can save even MORE when you on some of our current favorites.

The tasting is $15, refundable with a purchase of any 3 bottles from the tasting.

la Collina Lunaris Secco

Positively bright and bubbly, the Malvasia grape kicks this fully organic sparkling up two notches with ripe green apples, a kiss of vanilla bean and a tantalizing finish. All occassions call for sparkling, but not all occasions require Champagne. Try this fun-in-the-sun from a cooperative farm that over delivers on price and flavor. Secco means 'dry', by the way ... just making sure.

Villa Venti Serenaro Bianco Rubicone

The only thing famous about this under-the-radar wine is the grape, Famoso de Cesena. And even that isn't famous, yet. Rediscovered and brought back to fruition (wine puns!) this native grape makes a compelling and complex skin contact white that is loaded with mouthwatering acidity and a forever finish. Why waste precious wine drinking time drinking with quaffable 'famous' wines when really we should be seeking out the *almost* famous?!

Fat. San Lorenzo di Gino Marche Rosso

Third generation Crognaletti family organically farms Fattoria San Lorenzo on the banks of the River Esino in the eastern slopes of Marche in central Italy, 30 km from the Adriatic Sea. This perfect daily drinker is 60% Montepulciano and 40% Sangiovese, grapes that complement eachother with dark fruit and chewy, savory tannins. Speaking of compliments (with an I), we've seen few under $20 reds this enjoyable and can pair with just about anything you'd ask a Cabernet to do.

Sasso di Sole Rosso Di Montalcino

From the famed Val d'Orcia in the southern end of Montalcino, this 'baby brunello' -- they dont like it when we call it that -- is super playful in its youth. Sasso's Rosso has explosive aromas, a silky smooth palette, and is very elegant for its friendly price tag. I paired it with a homemade lasagne quattro formaggia and italian sausage. Chef's kiss! Highly recommended!

Osvaldo Viberti Langhe Nebbiolo

Osvaldo's Langhe Nebbiolo is a blend of younger vines from his top vineyards that are destined for famed Barolos. Relaased after one 1 year aging, his 2021 has a racy acidty and bold, but lean profile. Its light color will surprise your palate, but leave you wanting more. There are fewer contradictions in wine like a youthful Nebbiolo which is equal parts mouth quenching and cheek puckering.
